Vergitsis winery

Our Story

The story of our winery began in 1956, when our grandfather, Nikolaos Vergitsis, driven by his love for wine and equipped with only a few barrels, took his first steps into the world of winemaking. Despite the challenges of that era, his determination, hard work, and passion laid the foundation for a journey that continues to this day.

The second generation saw Apostolos Vergitsis take over the winery with an open mind and a deep passion for the craft. Committed to excellence, he expanded the family vision through new licenses, modern winemaking facilities, upgraded equipment, and the development of additional vineyards, bringing new energy and growth to the winery.

Today, the third generation is represented by Marinos Vergitsis, who has entered the world of wine with dedication and ambition. Following specialized studies in oenology and driven by a profound love for winemaking, he continues the family legacy with a focus on producing high-quality wines and promoting indigenous Cretan grape varieties, such as Liatiko PDO Dafnes and Vidiano.

Today, our winery cultivates 6.6 hectares (16.3 acres) of privately owned vineyards, growing both indigenous and international grape varieties. Guided by respect for tradition and a vision for the future, we remain committed to crafting wines that express the unique character of our land and heritage.
